About the University

With knowledge and ethics, we rise


The Nalut University was established in 2017 as an independent university under the decision of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord No. (606) for the year 2017. The university currently includes eight colleges distributed across the cities of the Nafusa Mountains, starting from the city of Jadu in the east to the city of Ghadames in the west as follows: Nalut College of Law and Sharia, Jadu College of Engineering, Nalut College of Medical Technology, Nalut College of Education, Kabao College of Education, Jadu College of Education, and Ghadames College of Science and Arts. Nalut University has graduated successive batches, reaching the 25th batch this year in various fields of their scientific specialties, academic programs, and study systems at the undergraduate level. It is worth noting that some colleges were established since 1991. The university aims, through its vision, goals, and mission, to achieve civilizational progress that meets the diverse needs of the region in general, to continuously develop and elevate the educational level of individuals in western Libya, and to advance the wheel of scientific progress forward.

The aim is for the university to have a pioneering and distinguished role in the academic and research fields, and to elevate its graduates to be capable of competing in the knowledge society and the labor market.


Providing scientific programs that comply with international quality standards and specifications aimed at preparing graduates in various disciplines with distinguished skills capable of competing in local and regional job markets, in addition to scientific activity and keeping up with developments in the field of knowledge production.


The university's goals are summarized in five main axes:

  • Building specialized cadres in all fields of science and knowledge that meet the requirements and needs of the labor market and are capable of serving and developing the community.
  • Working on strengthening relationships and exchanging experiences with relevant institutions, organizations, and centers both locally and globally to develop the community through training, creative learning, and continuous education.
  • Applying quality standards in the educational and administrative system and developing work within the comprehensive quality assurance system at the university.
  • Development of scientific production, support for research programs, and encouragement of creativity, innovation, authorship, and translation in various fields.
  • Working to localize and employ knowledge to serve the community by providing scientific, technical, artistic, social, and economic consultations to all community institutions.
