As part of enhancing union work and continuous communication with various academic institutions in Libya, an official delegation from Nalut University participated in the regular meeting of the General Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research Employees for the year (2025-2026This meeting, which was hosted by Derna University this morning, Thursday, January 22, 2026. The Nalut University was represented at this important meeting by a delegation that included:
Mr. Mohammed Issa Zakari - Head of the Employees of Nalut University.
Mr. Mousa Salem Yaqub - Member of the Executive Office of the General Union of Higher Education Employees.
The meeting was held in the main conference hall at Derna University, attended by the General Secretary of Higher Education Employees, the General Secretary of Derna University, and the Employees' Union President of Derna University, with broad participation from 20 representatives of Libyan universities and the Libyan Academy. The meeting began with a welcoming speech delivered by the President of Derna University, Professor Dr. Nasr Ayad Al-Mansouri, who welcomed the attendees and praised the vital role the union plays in serving employees and defending their issues. The meeting also featured an exchange of honors, where the President of Derna University honored the General Union in appreciation of its efforts, and in turn, the General Union honored the Presidency of Derna University in recognition of its continuous support and excellent hospitality.
In terms of the agenda, representatives from Nalut University engaged with the other attendees in discussing the listed topics, which primarily focused on monitoring the rights and interests of employees in the higher education and scientific research sector, as well as exploring the mechanisms and ways to achieve their aspirations and improve the work environment in Libyan universities. Nalut University's participation in this meeting reaffirms its ongoing commitment to being present at all events that aim to elevate the level of the workforce and enhance cooperation among Libyan universities.
